Tina… The Professional

Tina Gates, MS, MSEd. Vice President of Learning & Development with white blouse and black cardigan.
Tina Gates, M.S., M.S.Ed.

I began my professional career as a software developer, but education was never far behind. I began to notice my favorite side projects were creating training materials, learning about the industry I was working in, and training our clients. Then, the door to adult learning opened for me professionally.

After not too long, the opportunity came for me to launch my very first corporate learning program as a Director of Training. I quickly strategized ways we could provide the foundational learning support for our customers. As the sentiment for the customer programs my department provided improved exponentially, I began to build a team of Instructional Designers, and eventually Trainers and Technical Writers, to continue the work. I also found myself being charged with additional training and learning responsibilities. Soon, I was responsible for developing and implementing strategies for a diverse set of fields in corporate learning such as:

Professional Learning ServicesLearning TechnologySales EnablementEmployee Mentoring & OnboardingKnowledge Management

With this leadership opportunity and my unique experience came the opportunity to mentor transitioning professionals and those looking to move up the L&D ladder. My expertise led to requests to present my distinctive knowledge for the Association for Talent Development, International Society for Performance Improvement, E-learning Industry.com, Upjourney, and many more.

Today, I am proudly working to launch my third department (second corporate learning department) as the inaugural Vice President of Learning & Development at Kiddie Academy Corporate.

After more than 10 years as a corporate learning professional, I still enjoy learning and speaking about leadership and adult learning, and still have a thirst for instructional design and development. The journey has been very rewarding along the way! I am eager to use what I’ve learned along my journey to help others.
